Graduated at Cândido Mendes University, also completed the Program of Instruction for Lawyers at Harvard Law School in 2003. Professor of the Postgraduate Course in Tax Law at UNIGRANRIO, and of the Tax Law LLM of IBMEC. A former partner with Miguez de Mello Advocacia, in charge of the tax litigation area (1994-2001). Executive director of the Brazilian Association of Financial Law, member of the General Council of the International Fiscal Association (IFA), member of the Brazilian Academy of Tax Law, of the Brazilian Institute of Constitutional Law, and of the Brazilian Association of Tax Law, President of the Brazil-Honduras Chamber of Commerce, and Vice-President of the Brazil-Argentina Chamber of Commerce. Former President for two terms of the Corporate Law Alliance (ALAE). A member of the Special Commission that has drafted the Taxpayer Defense Code of the State of Minas Gerais, and of Commission established with the same objective by the National Congress, Vice-President of the Special Commission on Tax Matters, and President of the Commission on Federal Judiciary Matters, both of the Rio de Janeiro State Chapter of the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB-RJ). A member of the board of examiners in several exams for Public Attorneys and for Judges in the state of Rio de Janeiro, as examiner on the subject of Tax Law. Received individual recognition in the magazine Análise Advocacia in 2006 to 2012 being successively appointed as one of the most admired tax lawyers in Brazil on surveys among the legal departments of the largest companies in Brazil. Also received successive mentions on the international publications Chambers & Partners in 2010 to 2013, Chambers Global 2013 and 2014, Lawyer Monthly (Legal Awards 2011) and Who’s Who Legal 2012 and 2013, being appointed by both as one of Brazil’s best tax lawyers. In 2013, have been considered as Indirect Tax Leader by International Tax Review and Tax Controversy Leader. Author of numerous studies and articles published on specialized magazines. In 2013, have been nominated as Attorney for legal affairs concerning tax matters for Brazilian Federal Bar Association (OAB) and General Attorney for Brazilian Federal Bar Association – RJ (OAB/RJ).
