The firm was founded in 1945 by the late Alexandre Hauchmann as an internationally-oriented general practice. Over the years, the firm gained renown in international trade and maritime law.

In 1978, Alexandre Hauchmann was joined by Enrico Monfrini, who brought to the firm his knowledge and experience in complex litigation and arbitration, as well as in international tax, banking and finance law. Over the years, Enrico Monfrini furthermore became internationally renowned as an asset recovery lawyer, representing foreign governments, corporations and individuals victims of economic crime.
